EFR 099: How to Stand Up For Yourself Without Being a D*ck with Amy E. Smith

Rewind 10 SecondsPlayFast Forward

00:00:00

00:00:00

More often than not, on the road to enlightenment or self-discovery or hell... just trying to be a decent human being we are met with those whom think our sh*t don't stink. Or feel offended by the way we choose to now live our life (or at least try to). Granted, some of this may simply because that person is not ready to do the work and make the change like we are, but other times it is our own ignorance in how to effectively convey our meaning, our true self, and our honest intent.

Meet Amy E. Smith. She spent years finding her voice. Burried under other people’s thoughts and opinions and notions about who she should and shouldn’t be. Amy spent years as a damn-near SLAVE (drama intended) to highly restrictive religious dogma that constantly reminded her why she wasn’t enough. She was motivated by two primary things: Guilt and fear. Fear of losing salvation. Fear of not fitting in. Fear of rocking the boat. Fear of speaking her truth and losing relationships. Guilt around following her intuition when it was in stark contrast to all the religious “rights” and “wrongs”.

So, Amy began uncovering who she REALLY was. Taking her opinions out for a spin. She searched out people and places where tapping into "ME" was applauded (aka. A shit-ton of coaching classes, trainings, and seminars). Where “right” and “wrong” always looked different. Amy started to develop her OWN sense of self. What she stood for. What she believed. And after a handful of breakdowns, she found her voice. And as it turns out it was there all along.

Amy feels VERY strongly about being educated in the field of coaching, so she has a coaching certification (CPCC designation) through The Coaches Training Institute, a well-known pioneer educational establishment in the field of coaching. (aka. NOT just a weekend, online class saying “Wheeeeee, you’re a coach now!”). Additionally, Amy is credentialed with the International Coaching Federation (ACC designation), which is currently the only governing body that oversees the coaching profession. Fancy, right? It is.

How do we measure success these days? What constitutes a "good life"? At Ever Forward, we believe that it is all about the IMPACT you make and so does today's guest Lisa Bilyeu. She is the co-founder of Quest Nutrition and president of Impact Theory with her husband Tom Bilyeu.

Lisa is living proof that Darwin was right when he said "it is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but rather the most adaptive to change." She began her professional career in film, moved briefly into administration, and then, as a founding team member at Quest Nutrition, she took on logistics - building the company’s fulfillment department from scratch and helping facilitate the company’s rise to #2 on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing private companies. She then returned to media helping build the company’s revolutionary in-house media team, producing content that has been viewed over 100,000,000 times. As co-founder of Impact Theory, she’s looking to combine her highly developed skills as a creative producer with her drive to help people build things that matter.

Her latest passion in life is "Women of Impact" - a unique platform that will share the impact that other amazing women are having on her and the world around us.

EFR 091: Why You Can't Stick to Your Diet with Erin Wathen

Rewind 10 SecondsPlayFast Forward

00:00:00

00:00:00

Growing up in a beach town in California, Erin Wathen was always an active kid, competed on sports teams in high school, and taught aerobics in college. She has run 1/2 marathons, finished a Tough Mudder and many 6 hour Spin rides for Charity. A graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and a Food Addiction Counselor (INFACT), Erin is also a Certified Spinning® Instructor (STAR 3), Vinyasa Yoga instructor (200 Hour) and Classical Pilates instructor.

Even with all of her knowledge and exercise, she still was not at peace with her own body. Erin found nutrition to be the missing piece of the puzzle, as she was always on a diet and yet never at her goal weight. Through a lot of trial and error, she found her last diet. The last diet became her food plan and the basis of her book “Why Can’t I Stick to My Diet? : How To End The Food Drama”.

Erin's philosophy simply put; Health isn’t a number on the scale or how often we exercise, but our lives as whole. Together we will work on solutions that fit into your lifestyle. I will help you live your healthiest life in our crazy world.
