00:00:00

How do we measure success these days? What constitutes a "good life"? At Ever Forward, we believe that it is all about the IMPACT you make and so does today's guest Lisa Bilyeu. She is the co-founder of Quest Nutrition and president of Impact Theory with her husband Tom Bilyeu.

Lisa is living proof that Darwin was right when he said "it is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but rather the most adaptive to change." She began her professional career in film, moved briefly into administration, and then, as a founding team member at Quest Nutrition, she took on logistics - building the company’s fulfillment department from scratch and helping facilitate the company’s rise to #2 on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing private companies. She then returned to media helping build the company’s revolutionary in-house media team, producing content that has been viewed over 100,000,000 times. As co-founder of Impact Theory, she’s looking to combine her highly developed skills as a creative producer with her drive to help people build things that matter.

Her latest passion in life is "Women of Impact" - a unique platform that will share the impact that other amazing women are having on her and the world around us.

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and having three boys at home, Heather Chauvin quickly rose to the occasion and chose to build the life she wanted. Facing death was a revelation, to say the least. It forced her to ask, “Why am I fighting so hard to live when I don’t even know how to live?” Life had to mean more than just barely surviving, living paycheck to paycheck, and believing existence meant taking up space.

Heather Chauvin, BSW has been named the next generation’s thought leader in parenting and women’s leadership. Her mission is to crack women open to their deep potential and help them create the life their soul craves. Heather hosts the Mom Is In Control Podcast, and has been featured on the OWN network, Huffington Post, TV outlets and others. With wit and wisdom, Heather inspires a global community of women to take back control of their lives and evolve how they lead, work, play, and parent.

Heather and I talk about:

  • Being a parent at age eighteen

  • Battling stage 4 cancer while being a mom of four and wife

  • Her time as a social worker, seeing first hand how hurt people hurt people

  • Teaching other parents how to heal their children, their family, their world by first healing themselves

  • Learning how to be a good parent before having children

  • My own experience with PTSD around my father's terminal illness (ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease)

EFR 091: Why You Can't Stick to Your Diet with Erin Wathen

Rewind 10 SecondsPlayFast Forward

00:00:00

00:00:00

Growing up in a beach town in California, Erin Wathen was always an active kid, competed on sports teams in high school, and taught aerobics in college. She has run 1/2 marathons, finished a Tough Mudder and many 6 hour Spin rides for Charity. A graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and a Food Addiction Counselor (INFACT), Erin is also a Certified Spinning® Instructor (STAR 3), Vinyasa Yoga instructor (200 Hour) and Classical Pilates instructor.

Even with all of her knowledge and exercise, she still was not at peace with her own body. Erin found nutrition to be the missing piece of the puzzle, as she was always on a diet and yet never at her goal weight. Through a lot of trial and error, she found her last diet. The last diet became her food plan and the basis of her book “Why Can’t I Stick to My Diet? : How To End The Food Drama”.

Erin's philosophy simply put; Health isn’t a number on the scale or how often we exercise, but our lives as whole. Together we will work on solutions that fit into your lifestyle. I will help you live your healthiest life in our crazy world.

EFR 087: Bringing Creativity Back to Exercise with Joe Carabase

Rewind 10 SecondsPlayFast Forward

00:00:00

00:00:00

Remember when we were kids, and we spent hours each day enjoying movement? We may not have known it then, but so much of those activities and movement patterns are what we use as adults to build workout plans and keep fitness a part of our life. However, so much of the fun has been taken from working out! We may have success in our commitments to the latest group training class on the block but are we actually being effective? Are we staying true to our specific goals?

Joe Carabase, on Instagram @joecarabase, is a fitness industry veteran, host of the "Fat M.E.L.T.-ing Radio" podcast and multiple-location owner of his own private training facilities. He was the Men's Health 2014 "Next Top Trainer" finalist and has created multiple books and online programs to help busy people get the most effective (and fun) workouts through both in-person and online training.
