What does sustainability mean to you? Is it a buzzword you've heard often, but don't truly understand? Or perhaps it's a concept you're actively trying to incorporate into your everyday life?

In this episode, we delve into the details of a recent podcast episode, which focused on the realities of sustainable living, the issue of greenwashing, and how we can make impactful changes in our lives.

I sat down with Monica Richards, a dedicated advocate for sustainable living. We discuss the evolution of sustainability, from a niche 'hippie-dippy granola' concept into an integral part of our everyday life.

Throughout the episode, we share personal narratives and lessons from our journey towards sustainable living. We emphasize that sustainability isn't just about being eco-friendly; it's about making conscious choices and understanding the connection between us and the natural world.

The podcast tackles the complex issue of greenwashing – the practice of making misleading claims about a product's environmental benefits. Monica breaks down the strategies being employed to combat greenwashing, such as certifications and guidelines from the Federal Trade Commission. She urges us to question our consumption habits and consider if we genuinely need the products we're purchasing.

The discussion doesn't stop at personal consumption habits; she delves into the wider impact of industries like fashion, skincare, and plastics on our environment. Monica highlights initiatives such as the 30x30 Agreement, aimed at protecting our oceans, and discuss the potential for legislative intervention to curb plastic use.

Monica and I also explore the intricacies of fast fashion and its contribution to the waste crisis. We stress the importance of making conscious consumer choices, considering the impact of textiles, and promoting the use of refillable skincare products and unscented cosmetics.

We conclude with practical tips and actionable steps to help us all navigate the path to sustainable living.

The ultimate goal? To inspire us all to make changes, however small, towards a greener, healthier, and more conscious world.

When it comes to achieving your goals, how often do you tap into the power of your mind? If you're not utilizing this incredible tool to its fullest potential, you're not alone. In an enlightening episode of our podcast, we were thrilled to host Joanna Grover, a licensed clinical social worker, expert coach, and authority on the subject.

Our discussion revolved around one central theme: the power of imagination and how it can be harnessed for goal achievement. Throughout the episode, Joanna sheds light on the intriguing ways in which your seven senses can guide you on the path to your objectives.

We started off with a deep dive into the concept of imagery and its power in overcoming obstacles. She explains how we can train our seven senses, including emotion and motion, to stay consistent with our goals. A unique aspect she touched on was the use of scents as emotional triggers that can help us stay on course.

We then transitioned into a discussion on the power of imagination and visualization. We explored how this mental faculty can help us break through barriers and think bigger than ever before. Joanna shares insightful examples of athletes who use visualization as mental rehearsal and how our values can sometimes clash with our objectives. We also highlighted the unexpected power of negative thinking and the importance of mindfulness and presence in our daily lives.

Next, we explored the concept of social influence and the crucial role of intrinsic motivation in our lives. We discussed the idea of social contagion, the phenomenon where we tend to adopt the behaviors, attitudes, and feelings of the people around us. She elaborates on how being conscious of your social circle can impact your decisions and behaviors.

Towards the end of our conversation, we delved into the power of positive imagery and how to disrupt negative visuals. We examined the concept of social contagion and how it can help us become more creative and imaginative.

We concluded the episode with an engaging discussion on the superpower of imagery. We talked about the benefits of functional imagery training, and how it can help shape our everyday choices to bring us closer to our goals.

In essence, this episode offered a wealth of knowledge about how to use your mind power for goal achievement. From using scents as emotional triggers to leveraging the power of negative thinking, the insights provided by Joana can revolutionize how you approach your objectives.

Harnessing the might of your imagination can be a game-changer. As she rightly said,

"Your mind isn't always on your team. But there's something you can do about it, and imagery is, in my experience, the most powerful tool in our arsenal to overcome it."

If you're ready to supercharge your path to your goals, tune in to this mind-expanding episode. You'll be surprised at how much more you can achieve when you unlock the power of your imagination.

The quest for longevity and resilience can seem like an uphill battle. The dynamic duo of health and wellness breaks down the complex notions of 'durability' and reveals how it is intricately tied to our health, wellness, and ability to withstand life's challenges.

Defining Durability

Kelly and Juliet draw a refreshing connection between the concept of durability and our overall happiness and joy. They emphasize that durability is not about living forever, but about feeling good in our bodies and minds for as long as we can. Durability, they argue, is about having bodies that are strong and ready to take on the stressors of life, from everyday stresses to more severe health challenges.

The Importance of a Mind-Body Connection

An essential aspect of the discussion revolves around the profound mind-body connection and its influence on our overall well-being. Our ability to move freely and interact with our environment is directly linked to our joy and happiness. The duo urges listeners to recognize that their physical health is intimately connected to their emotional health and societal role.

Addressing the Mental Health Crisis

In the face of a growing mental health crisis among youth, Kelly and Juliet underscore the urgent need to address mental health issues through innovative strategies. They highlight the importance of not only adopting a top-down approach but also fostering a bottom-up approach that starts with basic lifestyle habits.

Unleashing Hidden Capacity Through Basic Wellness

In a bid to uncover hidden capacity, the conversation shifts to the significant impact of taking care of basic aspects like sleep, nutrition, and movement. The duo debunk popular misconceptions and offer surprising insights on these subjects. For instance, they delve into cultural practices such as squatting, which can lead to fewer orthopedic injuries, and discuss the effects of sleep on high performers.

The Influence of Alcohol and Late-Night Eating Habits

A significant portion of the conversation is dedicated to discussing the effects of alcohol and late-night eating habits on our sleep patterns and overall wellness. They shed light on the depressant stimulant cycle many of us are on, and the use of substances like Adderall and Ambien in professional sports.

In conclusion, the duo leave us with a thought-provoking notion to consider – every choice we make, every habit we nurture, has profound implications on our health and wellness. It's a call to action to make informed choices that count towards our journey to optimum health and resilience. This is a must-listen for anyone seeking a fresh perspective on longevity, resilience, and holistic wellness.

Have you ever stopped to question what it truly means to be a man in the modern world? Does it feel like the archetype of masculinity is under attack or is it time we redefined what being a man entails? Join me, as I engage Dean Pohlman of the wildly popular "Man Flow Yoga" YouTube channel and The Better Man podcast in a thought-provoking discussion on the status of the modern man where we dissect traditional masculinity and the missing components, such as emotional and mental well-being.

We then shift gears to the subconscious attachments men might have to traditional masculinity. We examine how these can lead to feelings of unworthiness and stress the importance of recognizing and unpacking childhood issues to better understand our own beliefs around masculinity. This conversation also touches on the impact of religion on modern masculinity, how it can both serve and dis-serve the modern man, and how a greater understanding of pain, suffering, and faith can be achieved.

Our conversation uncovers the lack of emotional connection and intimacy between men and proposes ways in which we can bridge this gap. We also challenge the notion of who might be attacking the modern man archetype and why, offering a healthy approach to the idea of toxic masculinity.

Let's talk money, shall we? Join me for a dynamic conversation with Scarlett Cochran, a specialist in financial wellness, where we reveal the secrets to managing your finances as a critical aspect of your overall wellbeing. We take a hard look at how our thoughts and feelings about money influence our choices, and how changing our habits can help us make better monetary decisions. We challenge the narrative that wealth is synonymous with greed, and confront those subconscious feelings of unworthiness when it comes to success.

"We do not make our highest and best decisions from a place of negative emotion, from fear, from anxiety. When we have those emotions, we're actually shutting down our higher brain functions, we're shutting down our decision-making and problem-solving sections of our brain and taking ourselves to fight or flight, and we don't want that. We want to be able to make decisions from our highest selves, right From clear thinking and clear decision-making, and so, recognizing that a lot of the emotions that we're feeling are caused by our very own thoughts, how we interpret our financial situation, we wanna start paying attention to those thoughts, because those thoughts are what we will be using to make decisions." - Scarlett

Together, we'll guide you from financial retraction to curiosity, reshaping your financial narrative towards abundance and wellness. I promise that by the end of this episode, you'll gain a new perspective on your relationship with money.

Unlocking the Mysteries of Fertility Health

Fertility is a subject that is often shrouded in mystery and misconceptions. In our recent podcast episode, we navigated the intricate world of fertility with renowned specialist Dr. Karenne Fru, MD. The discussion shed light on the startling decline in fertility rates, the economic and racial factors influencing the decision to delay parenthood, and the importance of initiating conversations about fertility health, especially among marginalized communities.

Follow Oma Fertiity @oma.fertility

Follow Chase @chase_chewning

Understanding the Decline in Fertility Rates

We live in a world where the fertility rate has dropped by more than 50% over the past 50 years. Economic factors such as the cost of child care, the cost of raising a child, and access to care issues have led to couples delaying their decision to have children. In particular, black and brown women tend to seek out care four and half to five years later than their white counterparts. The conversation highlighted the urgent need to address this issue proactively, as the survival of the species depends on it.

Delving into Female Fertility Health

The complexities of the female reproductive cycle were brought to light, shedding light on how chronic illnesses, mental health, and body weight can directly impact fertility health. The podcast also explored the concept of 'terminal dysfunction' or menopause, and how its timeline varies for each individual. Furthermore, the role of egg banking was discussed, highlighting its potential to preserve fertility for women who choose to delay parenthood.

Male Role in Fertility and Low Testosterone

The conversation didn't stop at female fertility. The episode also delved into the importance of male gametes, sperm health, and the effects of male infertility. The anatomy and physiology of sperm production were broken down, stressing the need for healthy sperm counts and morphology for successful conception. The podcast also highlighted the complexities of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and fertility health, emphasizing the need for men to take their reproductive health seriously and think about potential future family goals.

Exploring IVF and Genetic Testing for Embryos

For those who have ever wondered about In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), artificial intelligence in fertility care, or genetic testing for embryos, this episode served as an enlightening discussion. Dr. Fru and I unpacked these complex topics, discussing the potential of technology in assisting couples on their journey to parenthood.

Embracing Risk and Being an Experiment

The episode concluded on a powerful note, encouraging listeners to conduct personal experiments to better understand their bodies. As Dr. Fru rightly pointed out, "seeking help is powerful". We emphasized the need for people to be proactive about partnering with their healthcare providers and make informed decisions about their fertility and health journey.

In summary, this enlightening conversation with Dr. Fru provided a wealth of resources and insights into the intricate world of fertility, aiming to empower individuals on their path to parenthood. The episode drove home the point that understanding and taking charge of your fertility health is crucial, not just for you, but for the survival of our species.

Understanding Your Brain Type

Do you ever feel like you don't quite understand why you do the things you do? Or why you can't seem to make the changes you want to make? It could be that you don't understand your brain type. In this episode we discuss the concept of 'brain type' and how it can help us understand ourselves better with the authors of Override: Discover Your Brain Type, Why You Do What You Do and How to Do It Better, Dr. Connell Cowan, PhD and David Kipper, MD.

What is Brain Type?

Brain type is a concept that looks at the differences in our brain chemistry and how it affects our behavior. Drs. Cowan and Kipper explain that there are two types of brain chemistry: sword and shield. Swords are more likely to be drawn to stimulating activities, while shields are more likely to be drawn to calming activities. This can be seen in behaviors such as playing slot machines, addiction, and sustaining a sexual relationship.

Can We Change Our Brain Chemistry?

While we can't necessarily change our brain chemistry, we can adapt to it and use behavioral changes to stimulate more of a change in the brain. We can also use pharmacology to add in serotonin for shields and dopamine for swords. David explains that “we have to let ourselves be a little uncomfortable” in order to make lasting changes.

Aging Speed and Brain Type

We also discuss the concept of aging speed and how it relates to brain type. The good doctors explain that swords are more vulnerable to addictions, while shields are more vulnerable to opiate addiction and alcohol. They also explain that both sides can be overweight, but for different reasons. Understanding your brain type can help you understand why you do the things you do and make lasting changes.

Conclusion

Understanding your brain type can help you understand why you do the things you do and make lasting changes. It's important to understand your brain type in order to make lasting changes. They also explain that understanding your brain type can help you understand why you do the things you do and make lasting changes. If you want to learn more about brain type and how it can help you make lasting changes, be sure to listen to the full podcast episode.

“It's really important to be able to put a perspective on their brain chemistry. It really does Kipper bring the concept of know thyself into a whole new light.”

If you're looking to better understand yourself and take back the wheel of your life, this podcast episode is a great place to start.

EFR 720: Dale Moss on Resilience, Personal Growth and Setting Boundaries

Rewind 10 SecondsPlayFast Forward

00:00:00

00:00:00

We all need boundaries in our lives. They help us to protect our physical, emotional, and mental health, and to establish healthy relationships with ourselves and others. But what exactly is a boundary, and why are they so important? In this episode, we’ll explore the concept of boundaries and how to set them in order to maintain healthy relationships.

Follow Dale on Instagram @dalemoss13

Follow Chase @chase_chewning

What is a Boundary?

A boundary is a limit or space between you and another person. It is a way of defining and protecting your personal space. It is important to set boundaries in order to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and others. Boundaries can be physical, emotional, or mental.

Why are Boundaries Important?

Boundaries are important because they help us to protect our physical, emotional, and mental health. They help us to establish healthy relationships with ourselves and others. They also help us to communicate our needs and wants in a respectful way. Boundaries help us to stay in control of our lives and to make sure that we are not taken advantage of.

How to Set Boundaries

Setting boundaries can be difficult, but it is an important part of maintaining healthy relationships. Here are some tips for setting boundaries:

  • Be clear and direct about what you want and don't want.

  • Be assertive and don't be afraid to say no.

  • Be consistent in your boundaries.

  • Be willing to compromise.

  • Be respectful of other people's boundaries.

The Benefits of Setting Boundaries

Setting boundaries can help you to feel more in control of your life and relationships. It can also help you to communicate your needs and wants in a respectful way. When you set boundaries, you are also showing respect for yourself and others. This can lead to healthier relationships and a greater sense of self-worth.

Understanding and Reflection

Dale emphasizes the importance of understanding and reflection when it comes to setting boundaries.

“I think it’s important for people to really understand the value of, like, not being afraid to put themselves first at times. Because we’re in a day and age where so many people and so many things have access to us. And it’s so easy to get lost in whatever it is, the job, social media, and all these things. And we don’t even fully realize it sometimes.”

Making Your Partner a Priority

Dale also talks about the importance of making your partner a priority in a relationship. He says,

“We both have so many things going on in life. And what I always try to hold on to is everyone wants to be made to feel important. They wanna know that they matter, and they wanna know that they're not an end alone.”

He emphasizes the importance of understanding that relationships are always fifty fifty, and that it’s important to set boundaries and priorities in order to protect each other.

Dropping the Wall

Dale also talks about how he has been able to drop the wall with his partner and be open and vulnerable.

“I did this upfront. Because it was important for me for my partner to know exactly where I stood. And also, I wanted to see what they would give give me.”

He emphasizes the importance of being willing to open up and share things with your partner, as you can’t expect them to do the same if you’re not willing to do it yourself.

Navigating Walls and Delays

Dale also talks about how he has had to navigate walls and delays in his work. He says,

“You just gotta fucking keep going. I mean, yeah, really, that's what it ultimately comes down to it. But I've I've learned a lot this year and had an accelerated course on how to produce a docuseries.”

He emphasizes the importance of having passion for what you’re doing, and how it can help you to stay motivated and focused.

The Power of Action

Dale emphasizes the importance of taking action. He says...

“I think action is the number one thing I could say. I think I really vibe with action taking action to definitely just shake you out of that head space of uncertainty.”

Taking action can help to limit insecurities and can help to move forward in life. He also emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with people that you trust and respect, as environment is an extremely important factor in navigating uncertainty.

Conclusion

Setting boundaries is an important part of maintaining healthy relationships. It is important to be clear and direct about what you want and don't want, be assertive, be consistent, be willing to compromise, and be respectful of other people's boundaries.

Zach Pogrob is here to explain the importance of having a massive vision and goal and how to recognize obsession in others. He shares his story of leaving college soccer and finding his passion as well as the difference between positive and negative obsessions. Zach also shares his insights on how to build something great with a small team, something he thinks modern solopreneurs are missing the mark on.

The Power of Obsession: Unleashing Your Full Potential

Zach Pogrob, a renowned content creator, sat down with me to discuss the concept of obsession and its role in achieving success. The conversation revolved around the idea that obsession is a driving force that can propel individuals to greatness in their chosen fields.

The discussion delved into the concept of life as a battlefield, drawing inspiration from the stoic philosophy of Epictetus. Zach emphasized the importance of choosing the right war, or in other words, finding a passion or purpose that truly resonates with an individual. When one is deeply committed to a vision or mission, the trivialities of life fade away, and the focus becomes solely on the pursuit of that goal.

Zach also touched upon the contagious nature of obsession. He highlighted the power of supporting and following someone else's obsession, as it can inspire and ignite a similar level of passion within oneself. By immersing oneself in the stories and experiences of great obsessives, whether through podcasts, books, or biographies, one can fill their mind with the energy and drive necessary to discover their own obsession.

But how does one find their own obsession? Pogrob suggests that creation is the key. By creating and experimenting with different ideas and projects, individuals can tap into that feeling of obsession. It may take time and persistence, but through the process of creation, one can uncover their true passion and purpose.

Currently, Zach's own obsession lies in the realm of products. He is fascinated by the process of packaging obsession into tangible goods and vehicles for expression. As he transitions from content creation to building his own brand, he is driven by the desire to create magic companies that resonate with his audience and fulfill his own creative vision.

The power of obsession cannot be underestimated. It is a force that can propel individuals to greatness, fuel their creativity, and provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment. By following obsession, whether it be one's own or someone else's, individuals can tap into their true potential and achieve remarkable things.

Key Highlights:

  • Finding a new path after soccer

  •  Obsession: Positive gift, costly cost

  •  Obsession drives greatness

  •  Maximize potential through fitness

  •  Gut feeling, do only what you can

  •  Dreaming, visualizing, achieving

  • Pursue obsession with others, not alone

  • Life as a battlefield: pick right war

  •  Follow obsession to find passion

  • Living life ever forward: Pursue, Obsess, Improve, Create

Health Is Not A Matter of Chance; It’s A Matter of Choice

First and foremost, health has to be a choice. We have to choose that we want to maintain the level of health, emotional intelligence, mental, spiritual, physical strength, and wellness that we already have. Maintenance of what you have still takes work. When have you been in the maintenance stage of your health? Well, maintenance doesn’t mean you get to rest. Instead, maintenance means you are staying consistent. If you choose to maintain what you have and what you have worked for, it’s a choice. Beyond that, you don’t have to accept the cards you dealt. Instead, it would help if you chose to get back to your health.

Remember, Someone Else Has It Worse Than You

There is always someone else who has it worse than you. By other people showing up, it can empower you to show up. If you have a new diagnosis of a chronic illness, take five minutes and find someone with that exact diagnosis which is doing more than you are. For instance, Paralympic athletes choose to do more with the cards they are dealt. With every diagnosis, there is a way through it. The first step is to accept that there is a different way, and you have to take responsibility for yourself. Then, it would help if you practiced gratitude on your healing journey. Lastly, you need to take action steps.

The Challenges of Dealing With Your Mental Health Journey

Dealing with your mental health is more challenging than your physical health. Mental health is not as obvious on your journey to health. When you’re enduring an injury or an illness, it will get worse before it gets better. However, what you’re doing now is going to help you get strong in broken places. If you properly rehabilitate a broken bone, it will come back stronger than before. In addition, if you focus on the parts of yourself that have been traumatized, you will mentally come back more substantial on the other side. Allow yourself time and space to feel.

Improve Your Mental Wellbeing Through Therapeutic Experiences

Chase has been using recreationally but very intentionally a lot of therapeutic experiences. There’s a lot of biochemistry with certain plant medicines and psychedelics, but at its core, what Chase believes is happening is this incredible unlocking experience of the mind and the body’s ability to detach from the self. Consciousness is first and foremost out to protect us to keep us safe and away from any physical or mental harm. You don’t have to first go to plant medicine if you’re trying to heal from mental health challenges. Instead, breathwork can be something that gives you an out-of-body experience.

Ketamine: A Tool For Rapid Relief of Mental Health Challenges

Chase has gone through multiple ketamine-assisted psychotherapy sessions. All of his sessions were life-changing and profound experiences. It helps you detach from yourself. Chase has had multiple ego deaths. You can recognize the oneness through psychedelics and become much more at peace with death. With psychedelics, there is a tremendous sense of love. Our ordinary day-to-day consciousness doesn’t allow us to understand. Psychedelics helped Chase navigate grief, PTSD, anger, and sadness. Now, Chase is finally in the acceptance phase of grief after three sessions of ketamine.

Powerful Quotes by Dr. Sarah Abedi

There’s a lot of material in the subconscious/unconscious that is very difficult to come to the surface and these medicines may allow those things to come for that processing so that you can go back to that homeostasis, that inner healing intelligence.

We are highly connected people and if we want to act as if we’re not… that’s when we’re getting disconnected.

Your physical body will be decimated if you are constantly releasing a ton of norepinephrine, cortisol, all of these stress hormones that are really essential for the right period of time, but need to be brought back down to balance.

You are your best healer.

Transform Your Emotional State with These Simple Steps

Are you feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? Do you want to change your emotional state and feel more calm, centered, and focused? If so, you're in the right place. In this podcast episode, Chase Tuning shares his personal experience and practical tips for transforming your emotional state and improving your overall well-being.

Step 1: Acknowledge Your Feelings

The first step to transforming your emotional state is to acknowledge your feelings. Don't try to suppress or ignore them. Instead, take a few minutes to sit with them, feel them, and identify where you feel them in your body. This simple act of awareness can help you release some of the tension and stress that you're holding onto.

Step 2: Move Your Body

Another key to changing your emotional state is to move your body. This can be as simple as taking a walk, doing some yoga, or dancing to your favorite song. Physical movement helps release endorphins, which are natural mood boosters. It also helps you shift your focus away from your thoughts and into your body, which can be a powerful way to reduce stress and anxiety.

Step 3: Connect with a Trusted Resource

One of the most effective ways to change your emotional state is to connect with a trusted resource, whether that's a friend, family member, or therapist. Talking to someone you trust can help you feel heard, seen, and supported. It can also help you gain a new perspective on your situation and find solutions to your problems.

Transforming your emotional state is essential to living a fulfilling life. By following these simple steps, you can improve your overall well-being and achieve your goals. Don't let stress, anxiety, or overwhelm hold you back. Take action today and start living a life ever for it.
