Ryan Kelley is the Founder and President of The Home Loan Expert, which he built from the ground-up, with zero capital, in the middle of the Great Recession in 2008. Today, the company is one of the fastest-growing direct mortgage lenders in the country.

Asked how he did it, Ryan says that, from the very beginning he simply put his focus on anything but profit and never taking his foot off the gas, even as he began to experience growth. In an industry typically characterized by greed, The Home Loan Expert found tremendous success by running in the opposite direction and paying it forward.

Ryan speaks on the initiatives that fuel his passion for what he does.

His love for the outdoors inspired him to establish The Keep Climbing Foundation, which initially came from an idea between him and his friends to climb mountains to raise money for childhood cancer. Today, the foundation supports a variety of causes that are in need of financial support and awareness.

Having missed out on the opportunity to serve in the military, Ryan was driven to create Hero Loan, a program that shortens the turnaround time to complete a VA home loan—from up to 60 days down to as little as 14 days.

Powerful Quotes by Ryan Kelley

We were kicking butt in St. Louis. We were that renegade brand. But it wasn’t just how good we were at mortgages. We were giving back and doing a lot of other things like raising money. These are important to me.

It’s not just about climbing mountains. It’s about, keep climbing in life.

It is so important, regardless of your business, to know your clients, to be your clients: to breathe like your clients, to eat like your clients, to do the same things as your clients. The more you can put yourself in their shoes, you won’t have to sell.

Find something that’s important to you. Maybe it’s mentoring. Maybe it’s rescuing stray dogs. If you find something in life that’s more than just work, you do the work just to help you do more of that.
